Welcome to our Blog Series, Today we Introduce Paul Manders our Senior Crew Chief. He is a key member of our team and Paul runs our South Wales division, and manages all shows at the Cardiff Arena.
1.How long have you worked in the industry?
25 years. I started 2004 for rock city but started 5 years before that stage building.
2.Describe a typical day in your job?
I’m the first on site, I’ll speak to the arena managers/ promotors. Liaise with stage managers and truck drivers. Get toolbox talk ready before the crew arrives. Prepare the crew for the job and assign them to their roles for the upcoming job.
3.What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Developing crew and passing down my years of experience, trying to enhance their future. Building rapport with tour managers etc and building a show for people to enjoy. Taking it down and starting again the next day.
4.What do you enjoy the most about working at a 24/7 event crew?
Satisfaction of the job, creating something from nothing for members of the public to enjoy.
5.Do you enjoy any hobbies outside of work?
Prioritising my grandchildren, but mainly in my spare time, I like to purchase motorbikes and fix and build new ones.
6.What are you looking forward to the most this year?
Meeting people I’ve worked with for years on jobs, going back away for festivals. Facing new challenges and problem-solving. Developing new crew that are coming through the ranks. To help create a brighter future for themselves or the company.
Paul plays a key part in our team. We’re proud to have him on board and looking forward to his future with 24/7 Event Crew.
